By Train: The nearest major railway station to Shangarh is the Joginder Nagar Railway Station, which is located about 95 km away. You can take a train to Joginder Nagar from major Indian cities such as Delhi and Chandigarh, and then hire a taxi to reach Shangarh.

By Road: Shangarh is well connected by road to major cities in Himachal Pradesh and other neighboring states. You can take a bus or hire a taxi from cities such as Shimla, Chandigarh, and Delhi to reach Shangarh. The nearest major bus stand to Shangarh is the Aut Bus Stand, which is located about 50 km away.

During these months, the temperature ranges between 15°C to 25°C, making it an ideal time for outdoor activities such as trekking, hiking, and sightseeing.

In the winter months from December to February, Shangarh experiences heavy snowfall, and the temperatures can drop to sub-zero levels, making it difficult to travel and explore the village. The monsoon season from July to August brings heavy rainfall and landslides, making it difficult to travel and explore the village.

Day 1: Delhi to Shangarh Drive

  • Reach Shangarh a day prior by evening and plan your stay at a guesthouse/homestay/hostel.
  • Start early morning after breakfast and stroll through the meadows.
  • Cafe hopping in the evening.

The best time to reach Shangarh is reaching by the evening as buses are available from Aut tunnel at around 4 pm. Relax at a guest house or a homestay for the evening to start fresh for a next day. You can even explore nearby cafes and enjoy your dinner there.

    Day 2: Shangarh to Shangchul Mahadev Temple and Barshangarh waterfall

    • After breakfast hike to Shangchul Mahadev Temple followed by a hike to Barshangarh waterfall.
    • Reach your guesthouse again and relax.

    After a fulfilling breakfast explore the Shangarh meadows and the Shangchul Mahadev Temple. The 3 tired temple is the newly constructed one after the old one was burnt in a fire in 1998. The wooden enclosure at the beginning of the grassland was used as a resting place for the devtas and seemed to be newly built. The waterfall is located nearly 3.5km away from Shangarh and have a pleasant delight on this mountainous terrain. Click amazing pictures and return back by evening to relax and do cafe hopping.

      Day 3: Visit the local nearby places

      • Start your morning after breakfast
      • A long day covering places like Rupi Raila, Raila twin towers, Deohari village & Pundrik Rishi lake.
