How to reach Harshil Valley Uttarkashi?

Journeying to Harshil village Uttarakhand will take you through scenic routes with unparalleled panoramic views of the mountains.

By Air: Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun, which is around 220 kilometres distant, is the closest airport to Harshil. To get to Harshil from the airport, use a taxi or a shared taxi. The road trip lasts around 7-8 hours and provides spectacular mountain views.

By train: Rishikesh is the closest significant railway station and has excellent connections to several Indian cities. The distance of Harshil valley from Rishikesh is approximately around 244 km. You may go to Harshil from Rishikesh via bus or cab. The 8 to 9-hour road trip from Rishikesh passes through beautiful landscapes and rivers.

There are a few steps you must follow in order to get from Delhi to Harshil hamlet in Uttarkashi via rail. Although there is no direct train service to the village of Harshil, you may take a train from Delhi to Dehradun, the closest significant railway station. Depending on the train and its stops, the rail ride from Delhi to Dehradun lasts anywhere from 5 to 7 hours.

When you arrive at Dehradun train station, you must proceed to the nearest bus stop. There are several buses travelling in the direction of Uttarkashi at the Dehradun bus station. Once in Uttarkashi, you can take a shared jeep or a local cab to Harshil village Uttarakhand.

There are no direct trains from Haridwar to Uttarkashi or Harshil Village. You can easily get your trains to Haridwar Junction since Haridwar is a highly well-connected city. It is recommended to take a shared or a cab from Haridwar to Uttarkashi.

In this area, shared taxis are a well-liked means of transportation, and you may find them in or close to the Haridwar Railway Station. When you get to Uttarkashi, you may use the local taxis and shared cabs to get to Harshil once more; the trip will take you three to four hours.

By road: Major cities in Uttarakhand are easily accessible by road from Harshil. Buses or taxis can be used to get to Harshil from places like Dehradun, Rishikesh, or Uttarkashi. The road trip from Rishikesh takes about 8 to 9 hours and provides breathtaking views of the Himalayan ranges.

If you have to travel from Delhi, the distance from Delhi to Harshil village Uttarakhand is around 470 km which will take you almost 12 to 13 hours to reach. So, to cover this distance from Delhi to Harshil, you can take buses to Haridwar, Rishikesh or Dehradun and follow the steps mentioned extensively in the above sections.

If you intend to go by bus, keep in mind that you must be in Dehradun or Rishikesh early in the day in order to board a bus bound for Harsil. There are no buses running in the afternoon. Before travelling to Harsil, you might choose to spend the night in Mussoorie.
